Frequently Asked Questions

2012 finalists

All the finalists from Largs Has Got Talent 2012

Can I only audition once?

You are free to audition as many times as you like with different acts. You will need to fill out a separate application form and provide an audition fee for each act. So if you want to audition as a solo singer and then as part of a dance group that’s fine!

Can I audition if I’ve been in the final before?

Yes! The winner of LHGT cannot audition the following year but everyone else can audition as many times as they like!

Who is on the audition panel?

We change the audition panel each year, with various people who are involved in entertainment sitting on the panel. We invite judges who are not from Largs to make the audition process as fair as possible.

The grand final is judged by celebrity guests, which have included Tom Urie, Michelle McManus, Claire Knight, Leah McRae and Paul-James Corrigan. The editor of the Largs and Millport News, Drew Cochrane, has also been a judge since the first year of LHGT, in 2009.

How is the winner of LHGT picked?

The audition panel selects applicants to perform at the grand final. This year, the judges will pick the top 5 acts from the finalist’s performances. It is then up to the audience to vote for the winner of LHGT, which is announced on the night.

Where is the final and how big is the audience?

The final takes place in Barrfields Theatre, Largs, which seats 500 people, in what is usually a sell-out show.

What does the winner of LHGT get?

If you win, you get a massive £500 and the LHGT trophy with your name engraved on it. You will also be invited back to perform again at the final the following year. There are also cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. There may be other performance opportunities available for all finalists.

Where does the money raised from LHGT go?

LHGT is a fundraising event for Largs Youth Theatre Ltd. (Registered charity No: SC034374). All money raised goes to Largs Youth Theatre Ltd which provides weekly workshops and large-scale theatre opportunities for young people from Largs and surrounding areas.
